Learning about France

This morning Lucas's dad is coming into class to share with us about France, which is where he comes from.

There are two things you need to do this morning:
1 What do you already know about France?
2 What would you like to find out about life in France and how they live in France?

You need to think carefully to whether your question is CLOSED (gives us very little information) or OPEN (gives us lots of information).

Use the matrix on the board to help you.

I look forward to hearing your questions and to learning about how the French people live as well.

The Weather

Wow what miserable weather we have had last week and over the weekend!
I know rugby and netball was cancelled, and soccer carried on in the mud.

We have been playing with our sentences and have come up with some great writing where we use a NOUN and a VERB that drives our sentence.

See if you can come up with a two-sentence about the miserable weather we have had.  You can even use what this weather has done to the fields, the trees etc, as well as what the the rain, wind, lightning and thunder has been like.

Our success criteria is:
* Use a noun
* Use an exciting verb (try to think of ones that really describe and are vibrant).
* Sentence has a capital letter and full stop
* It makes sense.

You may have more than 1 sentence if you like.

Finding other words

Good Morning Room 9

On Monday we learnt about finding other words to say to something.  We do this to improve our writing to make it more interesting when creating a picture for the reader.

This morning see if you can think of some other words for:

JUMP

RUN

Weekend Verbs

Bula Vinaka  Room 9

What a beautiful weekend! Let's hope it stays fine this week as we have a busy week with cross country and on Wednesday we are working with Renee from Project Energise to learn a traditional Maori Game.

We are focusing on using super verbs to drive our sentences and to help create the picture in our minds.

Think about your weekend and some of the things you did.
List some VERBS that tell us some of your actions in the weekend.

My example
pulled weeds, cutting dead flowers, cleaning untidy bedrooms, hanging washing, clapping at prize giving, cheering on soccer team.
Who can come up with some exciting super verbs.

Minions - I make the rules

Good Morning Everyone
I promised you I would share this video I found about classroom rules which is quite funny.

We have ways we work and treat people in Room 9 which are based on our DSS values of responsibility, respect, honesty, curiosity and excellence.

Tells us what you think are the 2 most important things we do in Room 9 so we can be a class of courageous learners.
